A modernization package worth €150 million - including €30 million from the EU Modernization Fund - is intended to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the site and contribute to the company's climate targets. At the heart of the project is the installation of a new high-performance biomass boiler, which will increase the proportion of renewable energy at the site, reduce natural gas consumption and increase in-house electricity generation, according to Mondi. Construction of the new boiler plant officially began in June 2025.

According to Mondi, the Ružomberok site has a production capacity of 580,000 tons of uncoated fine paper, 366,000 tons of packaging paper and 100,000 tons of market pulp.
