Anniversary: 50 years of THIMM in Castrop-Rauxel

On September 3, the 50th anniversary of the THIMM location in Castrop-Rauxel was celebrated. A special anniversary - also for the Thimm family - because the location is the first expansion site.

Around 20 years after the company was established, founder Walter Felix Thimm decided to build a second plant in order to expand with his company. The choice of location fell on the Ruhr area, because major customers could be supplied directly from there. In addition, THIMM was certain that a good market would open up in western Germany. The timing was favorable, since at that time the state of North Rhine-Westphalia announced a settlement program for companies from the non-Montan area.

In 1970, a 60,000 square meter plot of land was purchased, followed a year later by the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone on the greenfield site. In August 1972, 41 employees started work in the 8,000 square meter plant and the first corrugated sheet was produced.

Since then, the Castrop-Rauxel site has been continuously expanded and modernized - the plant, with around 130 employees, has now been extended to over 20,000 square meters of floor space and has an annual production capacity of 150 million square meters.

The anniversary was celebrated at the Schulte-Rauxel farm in Castrop-Rauxel with the employees and their families. CEO Kornelius Thimm opened the celebration: there was a colorful program for young and old, ranging from a live band to a barbecue buffet and cotton candy. Colleagues from Northeim, who work closely with the Castrop team, were also on hand. A shuttle bus from Northeim was provided for them so that they could arrive and depart in a relaxed manner. In the morning, Rajko Kravanja, business promoter Mr. Thomas Ratte and other local guests and partners were guests at the Castrop plant and had the opportunity for an exchange and a plant tour.
