Essity France invests in energy supply for paper mill in Theil-sur-Huisne

Essity France, the French subsidiary of Swedish hygiene paper manufacturer Essity, has commissioned a biomass power plant at its paper mill in Theil-sur-Huisne.
According to the company, the new biomass boiler has an output of 5.8 MW, which will cover 75% of the steam requirements of the paper mill in northern France. According to a press release, this will reduce gas consumption at the site by 40% and the paper machine's carbon footprint by 34%.
Essity employs around 36,000 people worldwide and recently presented its financial report for the 2025 fiscal year. Its subsidiary Essity France employs 2,500 people, around 300 of whom work at the paper mill in Theil-Sur-Huisne. According to the company, 65,000 tons of toilet paper and paper towels are produced there annually.
