Expansion of the Panther Plant in Tornesch is in full swing

Since the beginning of 2023, construction work at the Altonaer Wellpappenfabrik, the first plant of the Panther Group, in Tornesch near Hamburg has been in full swing. A new additional production and storage hall is currently being built on the property.

Completion should be in August and the first new processing machines will be delivered in September. Two more folder gluers using the latest technologies with computer-controlled packing and pallet technology will be installed and integrated into a new hall of a space of 6,000 m2.

Last year, the Panther Group acquired a neighbouring property of around 25,000 m2, which was developed with a high-bay warehouse, service areas and several office buildings. A building was demolished here to create more space for storage and transport logistics. In 2024, further construction measures are to be initiated on the new company premises in order to create continuous improvements regarding sustainability. In particular, this saves on transport and consequently reduces CO2 emissions.

Not only because of the sustainability strategy Panther for Planet, which the Panther Group is pursuing, these aspects have again come into focus, but also through joining SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) at the beginning of last year. A global organization supported by the CDP/Carbon Discloser Project, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute/WIR and the WWF that supports companies to set ambitious emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science with the goal to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

By joining SBTi, the Panther Group demonstrates its awareness of the need to actively act in a sustainable manner, which can also be seen in the 2022 sustainability report.
