Fincoat selected fipptec as new representative in Germany, Switzerland and Benelux

Fincoat Oy and Fincoat GmbH with roll workshop in Freiberg i.Sa. manufacture hard and special coatings for rolls and cylinders traditionally for the paper industry. The work can be carried out in the paper machine on site or in the company's own workshops.

Fincoat was founded in Finland in 2005. Fincoat's expertise is particularly in thermal spraying and diffusion coating. Over the years, Fincoat has developed a number of its own coatings, but is also a licensee of well-known suppliers.
Thermal spraying is a versatile process that can improve surface properties (friction, erosion, corrosion resistance and anti-adhesion) by using different materials. The diffusion method improves wear resistance, heat resistance and frictional properties.

In addition, Fincoat also grinds rolls and cylinders either as an on-site service or in their workshops. Cleaning or profile grinding is offered for both hard and soft surfaces. Roll repairs are of course also carried out in the paper machine. Typical thermal coatings are:
- SlipStop is an abrasion-resistant hard metal coating that can be used to ensure constant friction coefficients and a long service life. SlipStop friction coating solves sliding and wear problems on rollers and also on flat surfaces and is ideal for wear and friction coatings. The high hardness values of the coating ensure durability and wear resistance in adjustable surface roughness depending on the required quality.
- CleanCoat and CleanCoat T are coatings that improve both self-cleaning ability and corrosion resistance. Either in one- or two-part structure, CleanCoat consists of a hard coating in combination of the latest nano-tech materials or, if more suitable, only the nano-tech coating. Both layers are selected according to the customer's wishes and requirements. CleanCoat T is a further development using ceramic-polymer hybrid.
- SuperStrong coatings for significantly better coating quality and better mechanical and chemical resistance than conventional hard coatings. SuperStrong is also used to replace rubber guide rolls in the wire section. SuperStrong G and Plus coatings are for press and calender rolls, as well as the SuperStrong C variant as a chrome replacement coating.
- Dryer Roll Cover DOHTM (formerly DryOnyxTM) is a non-stick coating for drying and cooling cylinders. The DOHTM coating keeps cylinder surfaces clean and provides excellent release and scraping properties. The quality and functional properties are unrestrictedly good, regardless of whether the application is made in the paper machine or roll shop. DOHTM is ideal for on-site coating. Fincoat manufactures the DOHTM coating under license. DOHTM is a trademark of Valmet Technologies Inc.
- BoilerCoat is used in power plants to protect against corrosion and erosion. The coating material depends on the type of boiler installed and the operating conditions.
These hard roll coatings are used in almost all positions of the paper machine and most of them can be applied directly in the machine on site. These are guide rolls to prevent corrosion and fouling, and to replace soft protective coatings in the wire and press sections, and for suction rolls, press rolls, drying cylinders and VacRolls, calender rolls and Yankee dryers, regulating and spreader rolls, and the winding drums in poperollers and winders.

On-site application of protective and hard coatings can be used to prevent contamination in headboxes, chair parts in the wet end section or on size presses. Separate solutions are available for protection against erosion and corrosion damage in steam generators and in the power plant.
Diffusion coatings improve the wear resistance of steel and are more commonly used for smaller scale surfaces and tooling, such as:
- Boron plating is suitable for all steels and produces a hardness of 1500-3000 HV with a coating thickness of 10 - 150 μm.
- VC coatings are made of vanadium carbide and are for steels with carbon content higher than 0.4%. The material of the component hardens during the coating process up to 2500 HV, coating thickness: 50 - 100 μm.
- TIC coatings consist of titanium carbide, are possible only for tool steels and are intended for moving parts with high wear. Typical is low coefficient of friction with hardness 1500-4500 HV and coating thickness 3 - 5 μm.
- Difal, or diffusion aluminide is a special high temperature coating for stainless and heat resistant steels. Difal also has a low coefficient of friction with a hardness of 1000 HV and coating thickness of 50 - 100 μm.

fipptec has represented specialty suppliers of components and solutions for optimized papermaking in Germany, Switzerland and the Benelux countries for nearly 10 years. Fincoat fits perfectly and completes the portfolio due to its high material know-how for better production stability and runnability and due to its excellent technology.
