Germany: Waste Paper Prices Continue to Rise in October
News General news
Waste paper prices in Germany continued to rise in October. Notable increases were recorded this month, particularly for bulk grades such as mixed waste paper, department store waste paper, and deinked paper. Prices for medium- and higher-grade paper are reported to be stable or rising slightly.
Prices for the various grades had already risen in September. For the current month, industry sources report that demand from the paper industry remains strong. Purchasers at paper mills are increasingly seeking additional volumes of department store waste paper and mixed waste paper.
The slightly higher demand for waste paper is met by a supply that remains rather weak. Waste management companies report that collection volumes have risen only slightly, if at all, since the summer.
