Igepa: Energy cost surcharge leads to price adjustments

The current price development in the energy sector is causing considerable cost increases in the production of energy-intensive products.

All possibilities of compensating for price increases, both on the part of retailers and industry, have been exhausted.

According to various reports, manufacturers are levying energy cost surcharges of up to €150 per ton of paper/board. These surcharges will apply to all deliveries, in some cases as early as 25.10.2021, and thus also to deliveries already ordered and confirmed. Against this background, it is necessary to pass on these costs to our customers in the same amount. Of course, all orders can be cancelled by our customers without charging any costs.

The surcharge is to be valid until further notice and will be levied in addition to the already announced price increases in Q4 2021.

This price adjustment dynamic for paper and cartonboard products, which we have already forecast, will continue into 2022 according to our opinion and also the opinion of all economic experts. A tendency towards a weakening and thus a calming of the market situation is not foreseeable today.

Our communication is characterized by transparency and openness in dealing with the resources at our disposal. In accordance with these principles, our customers are informed immediately of all the latest price and market developments.

We assure you that we will continue to make every effort and exhaust every possibility to provide you with the best possible service, even in this exceptional situation.
