Innovation Award Corrugated Board: 1st and 3rd prize for Klingele

The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group, one of the leading independent manufacturers of corrugated base paper and corrugated packaging, has won two awards at the Wellpappe 2021 Innovation Award of the Verband der Wellpappenindustrie e. V. (Association of the Corrugated Board Industry): First place in the "Display" performance group went to Klingele with "1/4 Palette Öko-Display" from our Wunsiedel plant, a special sales display for Zarelo GmbH, a supplier of fireplace lighters. Third place in the performance group Sales Promoting Packaging was "Aromaglut - Vines for Grilling" from our Grunbach plant, a creation for the start-up Aromaglut.

Sales-promoting appearance - 100 percent recyclable
The sales display for Zarelo is characterised by a sophisticated design, its high sustainability and its promotionally effective printing: A special technique with a perforation of the corrugated board opens up a second level as a presentation surface. This creates an appealing stepped look that also saves material in the manufacturing process. The display can be set up in just a few steps and without any tools.

The high-quality flexo print in combination with the top sign, which displays the content in the "body", makes the display an eye-catcher at the point of sale. The top sign can be reprinted in digital print as needed, for example as part of special promotions. The jury praised above all the "coherent and harmonious overall image that invites the consumer to take hold".

The display also combines its sales-promoting look and construction with consistent sustainability: not only the display itself, but also the glued-on pallet feet are made of cardboard. A ready-made transport system with a pallet guide made of corrugated cardboard at the top and bottom also replaces the usual plastic strapping or stretch film - more environmental friendliness from production to transport to use at the point of sale is hardly possible. After the articles have been sold, the complete display can be disposed of in the waste paper without any problems.

Attention-grabbing Aromaglut packaging
The sales packaging for the start-up Aromaglut, for which Klingele won third place, contains vines for grilling: In terms of size, it is based on the height of wine cartons and is very sophisticatedly printed in five colours plus varnish. This makes the packaging a perfect fit for the sales ambience of lifestyle products such as those in wine shops.

"We are very proud that the interplay between packaging design, customer advice and machine technology works so excellently and that the excellent cooperation between our team and the customer is also honoured in this way," comments Christian Hössle, Head of the Central Development Department at Klingele.

Originality, print quality as well as the "wow" factor at the point-of-sale in the balance.
