ISRA VISION - Founder and CEO Enis Ersü to retire from active professional life on June 30, 2021

One of the founding fathers of the German machine vision industry is now moving on to the next phase of his life, retiring from the services of ISRA VISION AG at the end of June 2021 after 36 years as CEO. The former research assistant founded the company ISRA VISION as a spin-off from the Technical University of Darmstadt. ISRA (Intelligent Systems Robotics & Automation) was one of the first German startups where the business case was strategically focused on combining machine vision with robotics and automation. After the first ten years, the decisive step was taken with a focus exclusively on the "electronic eye". In 2000, ISRA VISION was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with several ISRA managers.

Since then, ISRA VISION, as one of the few companies that successfully survived the collapse of the "Neuer Markt", developed into one of the global market leaders in the Machine Vision industry with 25 locations in over 15 countries; more than 850 employees generated a turnover of approx. 150 million € before the pandemic. Enis Ersü (photo) has led ISRA with a strategy built on customer-focused innovation while constantly pushing organic and external growth. The diversification to more than nine different industries was just as important as the strategic acquisition of eleven companies, some of them with a focus on different target industries.

Ersü sees the key to his success, among others, in his team: "I have had the privilege of working with a great team for more than 36 years; I am grateful to all my employees, colleagues, customers and partners who have accompanied me on many interesting stages, and have supported changes, strategic measures and courageous decisions. "For the next phase of his life, he wants to use his expertise to support young technology companies - just in an advisory capacity: "It's a very appealing task"; after all, he knows from his own experience what fresh founders need.

Ersü has also left his mark on industry associations. The founding of the "Vision Club," the first German industry association for machine vision, was an important milestone for him. The integration then into the VDMA, the years of "passionate" development on the board at the VDMA and the co-founding of the EMVA were important contributions for the industry.

His succession plan was naturally an important topic for Ersü. Of the possible options, the strategic alliance with an industry partner emerged as the optimal one. "Operating independently in the new Machine Vision division of Atlas Copco from Darmstadt ", Ersü is convinced that he has found a sustainable industrial partner in the Atlas Copco Group, with whom ISRA can continue to pursue the growth path it has embarked upon in the fields of Surface Vision and 3D Machine Vision, further fill its innovation pipeline and continuously strengthen and expand the team.

In Darmstadt, a three-person management team is currently taking over the leadership of ISRA VISION AG for the next phase; the new Executive Board colleague from Sweden Tomas Lundin and the previous ISRA Executive Board members Hans Jürgen Christ and Dr. Johannes Giet. ISRA VISION will issue a more detailed press release in the course of June 2021.
