The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group has been awarded the seal of approval for “Highest Innovative Strength in 2025” by WELT magazine in collaboration with the analysis institute ServiceValue as the industry leader. Klingele thus ranks first ahead of numerous renowned competitors in the packaging industry.

This award is based on an independent survey of executives in Germany. A total of over 2,000 companies from 106 industries were evaluated. Respondents were asked to assess the extent to which the strategies and concepts of the respective company management lead to a high level of innovation both in the market and internally. Klingele impressed with the best innovation value within the packaging industry.
“Being named the most innovative company in our industry is a great affirmation for our entire team. For us, innovation means combining technical excellence with sustainability and customer benefit, and living up to this claim every day,” says Dr. Jan Klingele, Managing Partner of the Klingele Group.
Strategic innovation development at Klingele
Klingele's innovative strength is based on a broad understanding of innovation and a systematic approach to innovation development. The company focuses on various types of innovation, from product and process to business model innovations, and uses its own creative area to develop novel ideas.
One innovation worth mentioning here is the optimized logistics-friendly design of packaging in Euro pallet dimensions, which enables maximum use of loading space and thus reduces emissions during shipping. Another example is the further development of the business model for the production of packaging materials. One example of innovation is the optimized, logistics-friendly design of packaging in Euro pallet dimensions, which enables maximum use of loading space and thus reduces emissions during shipping. Another example is the further development of Klingele's business model with marketable consulting services related to its packaging in order to serve the needs of its customers even more holistically.
In addition, the company focuses on mono-material concepts that enable single-type recycling and significantly simplify the recycling process. With “FastFix,” for example, an innovative corrugated cardboard fixing system has been developed that holds transported goods securely in the packaging – without the use of plastic chips or bubble wrap. When designing displays, the focus is not only on functionality, but also on conserving resources. Material-optimized solutions ensure lower raw material consumption while maintaining high stability at the point of sale.
Innovation potential for the future: PPWR, AI, and start-ups
Klingele also understands innovation in a legal and regulatory context. Packaging solutions are already being developed today in accordance with the requirements of the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR). In addition, a team set up at Klingele at the beginning of the year is working on exploring the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and implementing innovative solutions in a practical manner within the company and also for customers. Klingele has its own search radar for identifying relevant start-ups in the industry and uses teaching partnerships with universities and colleges to develop novel business model ideas.
