LEIPA - Supply of wind power
News General news
As part of its long-term transformation and decarbonization strategy, the LEIPA Group has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Statkraft. Statkraft, Europe's largest producer of renewable energy, will supply both German LEIPA sites with wind power from onshore wind farms from 2026.
By signing the PPA, LEIPA is taking another consistent step toward reducing fossil fuels and sustainably lowering company-wide CO2 emissions. LEIPA already covers a significant portion of its energy needs through the use of fuels from biogenic sources.
Antonio Bellante, CEO, explains: “The agreement strengthens LEIPA's competitiveness and creates stable, predictable conditions for a sustainable industrial energy supply. It is a central component of our decarbonization strategy and an expression of our commitment to climate-conscious, resource-saving, and at the same time economically strong industrial production.”
Michael Kopenhagen, Director of Energy, adds: “The purchase of wind power from Germany supports the transformation of our energy portfolio and further protects our sites against energy price volatility.”
The PPA is part of the LEIPA Group's comprehensive sustainability strategy. This is reflected, among other things, in the EcoVadis Platinum status, which ranks LEIPA Georg Leinfelder GmbH among the top one percent of companies assessed worldwide.
