In addition, production based on recovered paper is to be discontinued at the paper mill. According to a press release, this is the result of negotiations that were initiated in March 2025. Accordingly, Metsä Tissue will continue to invest in the mill's production facilities and focus on the production of virgin fiber-based tissue paper. The processing of recovered paper fibers, on the other hand, will be discontinued.

The company estimates that seven jobs will be lost. The corresponding redundancies are to be made in the first half of 2026. The affected employees will be offered alternative roles within Metsä Group.

The Mentää mill manufactures Serla, Lambi and Katrin branded tissue products as well as private label products for customers. According to the latest information, the mill's annual production capacity is around 97,000 tons per year with three paper machines and one paper machine for greaseproof paper. The company did not provide any information on how the planned measures will affect the production capacity of the Mäntää mill.
