With the certification by EcoVadis and the cooperation with BioBase, AustroCel Hallein is taking further steps on the way to becoming a Green Company. The Hallein bio-refinery has recently been certified by the internationally recognised EcoVadis quality seal and is a partner of BioBase, the new Austrian innovation platform for the bioeconomy and circular economy. Thus, sustainable management has been further expanded; the sustainability performance has already been audited by BCorpand EMAS, and the wood used is certified according to PEFC.

"We are pleased about these new certifications, because they show that we are on the right path when we combine sustainability and economic success and thus live the Green Spirit at all levels," says Jörg Harbring, CEO of AustroCel Hallein. EcoVadis is an internationally widely recognised green seal of quality. It works with clear sustainability ratings and makes them available on a platform. Worldwide, around 75,000 companies from 200 industries are listed according to the strict criteria. EcoVadis focuses on the value chains. The selection of sustainably operating suppliers, for example, is an important topic.

Since May 2021, AustroCel has also been a partner of BioBASE, the new innovation platform for bioeconomy and circular economy. This will establish new national and transnational as well as cross-sectoral cooperations between and within business and science. BioBASE is embedded in a strong network of around 60 partner organisations and institutions, including some major Austrian companies as well as professional representatives from the chemical, pulp and paper, wood, food and stone and ceramic industries. From the scientific side, BioBASE is supported by the most important universities and research institutions in this field. In addition, state governments of the federal states and location agencies or clusters are also part of the BioBASE network.
