Innovative and inclusive: The new Lenor ECOCLIC® cardboard box
News General news
Discover the new packaging of Lenor All-in-1 PODS®. During development, our focus was clearly on consumer satisfaction - at the same time, we were looking for a solution with less plastic.

Here comes the next generation of detergent packaging: the new, patent-pending ECOCLIC® box. The innovative cardboard packaging is fully recyclable, child-safe and at the same time easy to handle for all adults.
Fully recyclable in the paper cycle
The new Lenor cardboard packaging is FSC-certified and fully recyclable.
- It can be disposed of in the waste paper bin without any problems.
- FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council®. This is a global, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management worldwide and helping to preserve forests for future generations.
- To minimise the use of virgin cardboard in Lenor packaging, the ECOCLIC® box is made from at least 70% recycled fibre.
- By switching our Lenor All-in-1 PODS packaging to cardboard, around 300 tonnes of plastic can be saved each year in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
- In addition, the new packaging form facilitates the transport of our products and thus reduces the number of trucks on the roads.
Childproof design
Child safety was at the heart of the development of the ECOCLIC® box. Of course, Lenor All-in-1 PODS should always be kept out of reach of children - but at Lenor we don't want to leave anything to chance. In intensive research work, we have developed an opening mechanism that can only be handled intuitively by adults and thus prevents children from getting hold of the PODS.
And because the issue of safety is also about closing the pack again securely after each use, our scientists:inside have developed the box with a "click" sound that signals when the pack is closed properly. Our carton packs are certified child-resistant according to the AISE (International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products) testing protocol.
Easy to use - for adults
- It was very important to us to make the design of the new ECOCLIC® box as inclusive as possible for all adults. Tests with more than 2,500 consumers in Europe led us to this innovative and inclusive packaging solution - including parents and people with motor impairments, visual impairments and people with cognitive impairments.
- Thanks to its new ergonomic design, the box can now be opened more easily by people with mobility impairments.
- Lenor's ECOCLIC® box is equipped with a new tactile marker and NaviLens code to help people with visual impairments.
- The tactile marker is embossed on the top outside of the box. It is shaped like a washing machine and helps people with visual impairments to recognise that they are buying a detergent.
- NaviLens is a specially developed code and app for visually impaired people. Using the smartphone, the app scans important information about the packaging as well as the ingredients and delivers it either as an audio file or as a large plain text. The app can also scan objects and contents that are further away.
