New Owner for Rondo’s Corrugated Board Plant in Istanbul - The Frastanz-based packaging specialist sells its Turkish production facility
News General news
Rondo Ganahl AG has sold its corrugated board plant in Istanbul, Turkey. The facility’s new owner is a local packaging manufacturer.

Rondo Ganahl AG acquired the corrugated board plant of MKB Oluklu Mukavva Kutu ve Ambalaj in Istanbul in February 2013, and it has since played a valuable role in the Group’s success. However, the site’s capacity is now nearly exhausted, and realigning the plant with the company’s strategy would require significant investment at a different location. In light of the strained economic situation in Turkey, the country’s soaring inflation, and considerable demands from the labor union, the Austrian packaging specialist has decided to sell the plant and withdraw from the Turkish market.
“The decision to sell a production facility is never easy. However, given the circumstances surrounding our site in Istanbul, it was the best solution,” explains Hubert Marte, CEO of Rondo Ganahl AG. He adds, “It was very important to us to ensure a positive outcome for our employees. Thanks to intensive negotiations, we were able to secure a local packaging manufacturer as the new owner of the plant.”
Looking ahead, Rondo Ganahl AG will focus its business activities on the Group’s existing locations in order to optimize its use of resources, strengthen its competitiveness, and ensure sustainable growth.
