The Swedish forestry industry group Södra, based in Växjö, Sweden, has announced an organizational restructuring aimed at strengthening the company's long-term competitiveness and profitability in a challenging global environment.

According to the company, global uncertainties, strong currency fluctuations, and an imbalance between raw material and product prices are significantly impacting profitability.
Södra further explains that a company-wide program of measures has been launched, aimed at greater cost efficiency, new ways of working, and accelerated introduction of digitalization and AI. The measures envisage the reduction of around 200 jobs at various locations. They cover both operational and administrative areas. Negotiations with the unions have already begun.
The company employs around 3,400 people and generated sales of SEK 29 billion in 2024.
