EUWID market report on recovered paper: Market calms down noticeably in May after turbulent weeks
News General news
The German recovered paper market calmed down noticeably in May. After the hectic developments of recent months, both hype and panic have given way.

Supply and demand are at a low level, but are largely in balance. As a result, prices for bulk varieties are largely stable. Where there were still considerable fluctuations in April, price peaks have now been capped - mostly in the range of €2 to €5 per tonne.
In the case of imported quantities on the spot market, the cuts are said to have been even greater in some cases. However, the most recent price increases here were also particularly extreme.
Waste paper prices had already risen sharply in March. In April, the trend continued much more strongly. Low stock levels at mills and concerns about supply bottlenecks due to public holidays were often cited as the reason for this.
