Sappi Europe announces price increases from January 2026
News General news
Sappi Europe has announced price increases for its portfolio of coated wood-containing roll paper. The adjustment is to be implemented on the market from January 1, 2026.
The company cites the continuing high costs of energy, transport, personnel, chemicals, and raw materials, which are placing a considerable strain on production economics despite internal efficiency programs, as the reason for the planned price adjustment, which is expected to be between 5 and 7%. “The cost situation has not returned to pre-crisis levels and the paper value chain continues to operate under inflationary pressure,” explained Antti Makkonen, Sales Director Graphic Papers at Sappi Europe.
Profitability in the coated wood-containing roll segment is insufficient and below the level necessary to justify ongoing investments and secure production in the long term. The price increase will enable the company to maintain supply to customers while investing in plant reliability, product development, and capacity stability.
