Sofidel is thus acquiring four mills – a paper mill in Gila Bend, Arizona, with an annual capacity of 61,000 tons per year, two converting mills in Phoenix, Arizona, and another converting line in Duncan, South Carolina. Sofidel intends to offer continued employment to the majority of the workforce at the production facilities.

According to a company announcement, the transaction is based on a "stalking horse" asset purchase agreement (APA) agreed in April and was completed on June 16 after all court and regulatory approvals were received.

With this acquisition, the North American market now accounts for 50% of the company's total sales, according to Sofidel. Sofidel operates a total of 15 production facilities in the USA. In the 2024 financial year, the company generated sales of €3.2 billion.
