A tragic accident had taken place in January 2020 at the Rotkreuzplatz in Munich. A 68-year-old man was crushed to death by a paper press.

The man was employed as a janitor at a department store on Pötschnerstrasse in Munich. He was working on the machine when the press backed up, trapping him.
Employees discovered the injured colleague and alerted the emergency services. However, the emergency doctor could only diagnose the man's death.
The fatally injured man could only be freed from the press after about three hours using a winch.
