This affects the company's entire hydrosulfite product portfolio, which includes products such as Hydrosulfit F, HydroBlue 90 h, and Adlite. Hydrosulfites are used as bleaching agents in pulp and paper production and as reactants in the dyeing process for textiles. According to the company, the measure is part of a strategic review of the production structure in Ludwigshafen. The aim is to focus activities more strongly on business areas with long-term value creation potential.

Around 65 employees currently work in the Group's hydrosulfite business in Ludwigshafen. BASF intends to support these employees in their search for new positions within the Group.

“By focusing on profitability and long-term value creation, we are ensuring competitiveness in a challenging economic environment,” says Dr. Ramkumar Dhruva, head of the Monomers division.
