Yunlin prosecutors said on November 2, 2023, that they had received reports that members of a local farmers' association had given away boxes of toilet paper worth about US$28 to those who signed their names in support of Terry Gou's presidential bid.

Gou, the founder and former CEO of Foxconn, plans to run as an independent presidential candidate and has been conducting a signature-gathering drive to get the necessary support to register to vote. However, according to poll results, Gou's support has dropped in recent months and now stands at around 9%.
