Displays continue to play a significant role in sales promotion. But the more extensive the product range, the more complex the processes become. To reduce the increasing complexity, Mondelēz International was looking for a more efficient and at the same time more flexible solution for the chocolate variety of Milka bars.

The modular system based on the building block principle was realized together with the display and packaging specialists from DS Smith. The stacked shelving units of the new display solution allow for a wide variety of placement options. The secondary placements receive their individual design via the lateral communication surfaces. The panels, which are individually designed and printed in high quality for each sales promotion, are not part of the body and are therefore easy to replace. For the snacking manufacturer Mondelēz International, this opens up more flexibility and efficiency in daily use thanks to on-demand production of the display components.

The modular display also offers added value in POS handling. Since the secondary placement is equipped with retail-ready shelf packaging, it can be easily and quickly refilled in stores. Optimum availability and visibility of the merchandise are also guaranteed by SalesFront®. The automatic product feed system from DS Smith gently moves the chocolate bars forward within the trays after each removal and thus into the field of vision of the shoppers.

The high efficiency of the modular solution is convincing all along the line. At the end of its service life, the monomaterial solution made of 100% corrugated board can simply be put into the recycling loop and thus becomes a valuable raw material for new, fiber-based products. In line with DS Smith's sustainability strategy "Now. And Future." sustainability strategy of DS Smith.

In addition, DS Smith was honored for two further developments at the POPAI D-A-CH Awards: A gold award for the extravagant counter display for the new NIVEA Cellular 3in1 Care Make-up, and another bronze award for an attention-grabbing display solution for WEPA.
