Rising raw material and energy prices continue to put massive pressure on the corrugated board industry, which is why many manufacturers are looking for ways to streamline their production processes. One solution is the integration of automated digital technology, the application of which leads to significant time and resource savings. The topics of automation and digitalization of corrugated production are on the agenda for Nov. 14 and 15 at the VDW's 29th General Meeting.

"In an environment where resources and therefore costs have to be saved without quality suffering, decisions should not be based on lengthy results and limited information," says Alexander Grüner, global marketing and business development manager at emtec Electronic.

The German manufacturer of measuring and testing equipment for the pulp, paper and board industry will be on hand to discuss the application possibilities and benefits of emtec equipment for paper and board processing. These include:
The innovative ACA Ash Content Analyzer, which quickly and non-destructively measures total mineral filler content and the percentage of each mineral component in paper and board. This allows paper mill technicians to accurately determine the components present and adjust the converting process accordingly.

Compared to the conventional ashing method, which takes three to seven hours to provide general and operator-dependent results, using the ACA instrument results in tremendous time and energy savings by providing highly accurate and operator-independent information within seconds.

In addition, for the production of quality board and cardboard, technicians need detailed information on the processing-relevant properties of surface sizing/hydrophobicity and surface porosity/pore structure. This data can be used to predict how well adhesives, coating or printing inks will adhere to the surface or interact with the board. emtec has two digital solutions at hand:

The EST emtec Surface & Sizing Tester, an easily portable device that determines the two processing-relevant parameters of surface sizing and surface porosity, which cannot be detected by standard test methods.

The PDA Penetration Dynamics Analyzer, which is similar to the EST instrument but, as a modular system, also allows measurements with highly viscous process fluids.

Attendees of the VDW conference in Seeheim can find out more and talk to sales representatives Eric Haagen and Stefan Rübesam at the emtec booth no. 22
