Whether a paper product is particularly tear-resistant, absorbent, waterproof or soft, its properties are the result of targeted measures in the wet end or during further processing. Knowing the right amount of additives to achieve the desired effect saves resources and supports the achievement of optimum product quality.

Innovative and profitable technologies for paper manufacturers and technicians continue to be an important topic for the industry and one of the focal points of MIAC 2022 in Lucca. During the three-day event, attendees will be able to meet the leading international companies in the paper industry under one roof, gain valuable insights into new trends and breakthrough processes, and get a complete overview of the new technologies and equipment available.

Leipzig-based equipment manufacturer emtec Electronic GmbH will also be on hand again to showcase its product range geared towards the paper industry. The family-owned company has been serving the pulp, paper, tissue and board industries for 27 years and has 13 of its own devices, some of which were developed jointly with domestic and foreign partners, including:

The ACA Ash Content Analyzer, which quickly and non-destructively measures total mineral filler content and the percentage of individual filler components in paper and board.

The FPO Fiber Potential Analyzer Online, which fully automatically and accurately determines the zeta potential of fibers (surface charge) in paper and board machines.

The TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer, which has become an industry standard for softness measurement of tissue or hygiene papers and was recently presented in a TAPPI Technical Information Paper (TIP).

The CAS touch! Charge Analyzing System and the FPA touch! Fiber Potential Analyzer - two easily portable instruments that are best used together to determine the cationic demand of the suspension (particle charge) and the zeta potential of the fibers in the wet-end.

The EST emtec Surface & Sizing Tester, which helps predict paper and board gluability, printability, and coatability by measuring surface sizing (hydrophobicity) and surface porosity (pore structure) parameters relevant to processing.

The PDA Penetration Dynamics Analyzer is equivalent to the EST instrument, but as a modular system also allows measurements with highly viscous process liquids.

Visitors to MIAC are invited to stop by booth #160 to talk with emtec Area Sales Manager Philipp Sievers or representatives Riccardo Cossi (Qi srl) and Massimo Rossi (Metreo srl) about how to optimize paper production and processing using the innovative digital instruments. Live demonstrations are also possible at any time during the event.
