One of the many things you can do with paper is to make paper aeroplanes. Children do this to satisfy their play instinct, but sometimes adults also engage in this art.

The largest paper aeroplane in the world built to date has a wingspan of 18.21 metres and was built in 2013 by students and staff of the TU Braunschweig. A larger paper aeroplane with a wingspan of 19.5 metres exists in the USA, but it is not mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records because it cannot manage the required minimum flight distance of 15 metres.

A real paper aeroplane competition takes place every three years in Salzburg. It is the so-called Red Bull Paper Wings Competitions. This international event, which is mainly designed by and for students, mainly measures and evaluates the flight distance and flight duration of self-made paper planes.
