Federal Cartel Office Approves MM’s Acquisition of the RDM Arnsberg Cardboard Plant
News General news
From the perspective of the German competition authorities, there are no obstacles to Mayr-Melnhof’s planned acquisition of the Arnsberg cardboard plant from Reno de Medici.
On September 24, 2026, the Federal Cartel Office gave the project the green light. In mid-August, the recycled cardboard manufacturers had announced plans for MM Board & Paper to acquire the cardboard factory as part of an asset deal. According to earlier statements, the companies do not expect the transaction to close until the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Arnsberg cardboard factory has a production capacity of approximately 230,000 metric metric tons per year of recycled cardboard and is specifically designed for the production of GD liner. MM justified the planned acquisition as an investment in its core business, with which the cardboard manufacturer anticipates synergy effects in the coming years. The plant is strategically located near MM Neuss, where the group converted Line 5 to liner production a few years ago.
