On August 11, the Swiss manufacturer of newsprint announced that it would have to lay off around 65 employees in response to a persistently challenging market situation. The paper mill has now agreed with employee representatives on a reduction in job cuts, bringing the number of those affected down to 60, according to a statement from the company at the end of August.
According to earlier statements, paper production will not be affected. Perlen announced that it would continue production with both paper machines.
