The industry summit will take place as a presence event at the dbb Forum Berlin and will be held under the motto "How VUCA is changing the (packaging) world.

The word VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. It describes new states of affairs that bring with them unknown conditions. It also describes a world that looks very different than it did three years ago. The Corona pandemic, the Ukraine war, inflation and price explosions for energy and raw materials as well as disrupted supply chains have turned many habits and certainties upside down. The impact on the packaging value chain is also enormous - and requires new questions, new thinking, new strategies and new resources.

Lectures, discussions, workshops: Together with top experts and opinion leaders, we shed light on the volatility of markets, energy as the eye of the needle and the situation, as well as developments in foreign trade. We also look at the mega topic of sustainability. Is it being redefined?

Topics and issues in focus:

  • Alternatives and best practice in the energy sector. How can we maintain the competitiveness of energy-intensive companies?
  • How can brands survive the crisis and emerge stronger?
  • What influence does VUCA have on companies' sustainability goals? How are consumers' views and actions changing? Is sustainability being redefined?
  • Focus on the circular economy: Is recycling really all lies?
  • What are the consequences of increasing protectionism and the rise of autocratic systems? Are we seeing the end of "change through trade"?
  • What's coming from Brussels? We give updates on current and planned directives and regulations.
  • What additional burdens will the industry face, for example through the single-use plastic fund? We welcome a representative of the national legislator and look forward to the discussion.
