Separating product sachets with product samples, postcards, instructions, envelopes, cardboard blanks and other two-dimensional advertising, information and packaging materials is a decisive first step in their efficient automated further processing. This includes gluing or inserting them into newspapers, magazines and mailings. With HERMA’s support, Köra-Packmat, a leading specialist in the handling of flat products, has developed a versatile offline feeder system that can label products while separating them – with the help of the integrated HERMA 500 label applicator. The friction feeder, designated AF3-300 AdvancedFeeder, has a freely selectable dispensing capacity of 20 to 100 cycles per minute. It can process products up to A4 size and, above all, with a thickness of up to 15 millimeters. "Even popular cosmetics samples for magazines can be easily separated," says Jürgen Fetzer, Sales Manager at Köra-Packmat. The integrated HERMA 500 label applicator opens up completely new possibilities for efficient workflows. "You can now quickly and securely add a special address, a specific QR code, or other information aimed at a certain number of recipients in a single operation," Fetzer says. "At graphic art companies and similar service providers, the products are still often counted manually and placed on a conveyor line. There, they are aligned and fed to a label applicator, or labeled entirely by hand. This process is time-consuming and error-prone."

Extremely reliable and highly flexible

The AF3-300 AdvancedFeeder and the integrated HERMA 500 are both designed to ensure maximum process reliability and high flexibility - with minimal changeover times. The feeder itself has a user-friendly touch panel with a large display. It has a counting function and allows to dispense without preselected number of products. One can also set the timed or continuous operation option via the display. The tool-free quick adjustment mechanism also makes it easy to adjust the setting points, which can be reproduced at any time. The HERMA 500 also features an innovative quick-change system and touchscreen for fast setup. The menu structure is designed so that no more than three clicks are needed to access any menu item. Favorite parameter settings can be displayed directly on the start screen. It makes operating a HERMA 500 as intuitive as using a smartphone. This also makes the AF3-300 AdvancedFeeder particularly future-proof: In addition to the label applicator, other functional modules such as printers, scanners, camera systems and other additional devices can be integrated as an option.
