From gathering signatures with the MG-600 folded sheet collator, to the BQ-500 perfect binder, to final trimming with the fully automatic HT-300 three-side trimmer or the fully variable HT-1000V three-knife trimmer, the MiniCABS takes up relatively little space. The compact system configuration facilitates operation and monitoring of the machine status.

Flexible configuration with hybrid solutions
In addition, the MiniCABS offers a wide range of applications and hybrid solutions – books can be produced from both offset and digital printing workflows. In addition to using the system with a folded sheet collator, roll-to-bookblock or cut-sheet-to-bookblock systems can also be integrated. This is made possible by the LBF-500 bookblock feeder, which can process various types of bookblocks, including loose-leaf collections, folded signatures, auxiliary-glued or thread-stitched bookblocks. In batch mode with consistent book thickness, up to 750 book blocks/hour can be fed; maximum 700 book blocks/hour with variable book production with a thickness deviation of less than 5 mm.

In combination with the ESF-1000 front matter feeder and the GF-500 gauze unit, the system can also produce not only softcover books but also book blocks for hardcover production: The space-saving GF-500 gauze unit enables fully automatic preparation of the gauze strip. Both the length and width of the gauze are cut, fed, and pressed fully automatically according to the book block information. The gauze unit is set and activated fully automatically via the touchscreen of the BQ-500. This enables quick switching between the two binding types – hardcover and softcover – without manual intervention. In the ESF-1000 end sheet feeder, the folded front and back end sheets are attached to the book block using hot melt. The standard thickness measurement before feeding allows different book thicknesses to be processed from book to book
