ILLIG has expanded its range of sustainable packaging solutions to include thermoforming paper to produce sealable packaging. ILLIG thus offers packaging manufacturers a food-grade alternative to plastic packaging applications that can be implemented on existing ILLIG production systems.

With Circular Thinking, ILLIG is pursuing the development of sustainable and resource-saving applications. The Heilbronn-based company supports customers with packaging development "Pactivity® 360" and a full suite of services in the ILLIG Technology Center (ITC). New paper forming techniques have been tested and approved on series production equipment. Recent test series at the ITC show excellent results in the realization of high-quality and sealable trays made of 250 μm thick paper with an ultra-thin degradable coating. A forming/counterforming process with compressed air support is used with subsequent punching of the molded part. The tray produced in the ITC is dimensionally stable, sealable and completely recyclable or compostable after removal of the sealing film. ILLIG thus creates new sustainable alternative to plastic trays, which, with a barrier option, is ideally suited for the safe packaging of fresh food. With the development of sustainable packaging made from thermoformable paper, ILLIG offers its customers the ability to respond to changing consumer preferences and market demands.
