With the second price increase for brown kraftliner within a few weeks, manufacturers of virgin fiber papers have outpaced the adjustments for AP packaging papers.

According to market participants, the implementation of the price increase for unbleached kraftliner in the middle of the month—and in a few cases on July 1—was a concession by manufacturers to converters. It should not be interpreted as a sign of difficult negotiations.

From the producers’ perspective, a full price adjustment could have been implemented as early as June 1.
