Low pulp prices weigh on Altri's earnings
News General news
Portuguese pulp manufacturer Altri continued to face an unfavorable environment in the global pulp market in the third quarter of 2025.
The company cites significantly lower average pulp prices, a weakened macroeconomic environment as a result of changes in US trade policy, and increased competition from China as the main factors. Additional pulp production capacity and improved access to raw materials in China prevented pulp prices from recovering, although demand showed some positive signs in the third quarter.
Against this backdrop, Altri recorded a noticeable decline in its business figures. Consolidated revenues fell by 20% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. At €12 million, EBITDA was significantly below the comparative figure of €56 million.
The bottom line is that the company posted a net loss of €1.7 million for the third quarter.
