Metsä Tissue: Job cuts in Europe to optimize capacity utilization
News General news
Metsä Tissue is launching an organizational realignment to increase efficiency and growth in Europe. The measure will also involve job cuts.
The company emphasized that no plant closures are planned. According to preliminary company estimates, the planned measures could lead to a permanent reduction of around 50 jobs in European countries. Final decisions will be made and communicated after the legal negotiation processes have been completed.
The aim of the measure is to optimize capacity utilization and support the company's growth. According to a company statement, the Greaseproof Papers business area will remain unaffected by the organizational changes.
“This organizational change will strengthen our ability to serve customers effectively while maintaining our commitment to operational excellence,” said Sari Pajari-Sederholm, CEO of Metsä Tissue, in a statement. The company recently invested in expanding capacity at its paper mill in Mariestad.
According to its own figures, Metsä Tissue employs 2,398 people worldwide. In 2025, the company produced 460,000 tons of tissue paper.
