The international packaging and paper group Mondi is strengthening its machinery at the Eschenbach site with state-of-the-art technology. The investment of around 9 million euros, which was completed on schedule in the first quarter of this year, includes modernisations along the entire process chain: the installation of a state-of-the-art folding carton inliner machine, additional tape applications for the corrugator, and an upgrade in the area of automation with packing robots and a new automatic bundling system.

Mondi Eschenbach's portfolio includes a wide variety of glued packaging, with a focus on the area of sustainable eCommerce packaging. The packaging requirements of online mail order companies can vary greatly, which the plant can address with an even wider range of individual solution options for a wide variety of needs thanks to the new technical equipment. The Mondi eCommerce portfolio consists of various innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that meet the requirements of online mail order companies as well as the expectations of online shoppers. The sustainability of packaging and the "unboxing" experience, i.e. the packaging as the first touchpoint of the brand experience, are becoming increasingly important. This was investigated and confirmed in a recent consumer trend survey on online shopping behaviour.

"Our customers come to us with a specific packaging problem and receive an individual, efficient solution," says Burkhard Vogel, managing director of the site. "We are able to offer special technical features that customers seek in vain elsewhere. For example, the application of individual labels to the packaging has been integrated into our production process. By investing in our production facility today, we are paving the future for sustainable and unique packaging solutions of tomorrow. With the upgrade, we are also underlining the attractiveness of the workplace and promoting the education and training of our workforce," Vogel emphasises.
