Against the backdrop of massive oversupply in the paper and packaging industry, many experts quickly realized that, given the company's financial difficulties, it would be difficult to maintain or even repurpose the Hagen Kabel plant. The investor process initiated as part of the preliminary insolvency proceedings failed. This status has not changed in recent weeks.

With the paper mill in financial difficulties, which had a total capacity of up to 470,000 tons per annum of LWC and MWC based on fresh fiber with PM 5 (around 260,000 tons per annum) and PM 4 (around 200,000 tons per annum), 420 employees lost their jobs.
