Panther Display increases the level of automation in the factory

A new, additional type of further processing is being introduced at Panther Display GmbH & Co. KG. In addition to existing technologies such as flatbed die-cutting and punching crucibles, a state-of-the-art flatbed cutting system (plotter) has just been put into operation. For the production of high-quality secondary placement elements made of corrugated board, the installation means a significant increase in capacity. It is also a further step towards independence and the expansion of automation at Panther Display. The new acquisition enables Panther Display to produce complex orders in particular much more flexibly and in a shorter time, thus increasing reliability and delivery reliability.

The digital cutter offers a working area of 1800 x 3200 mm and plots with two tools in parallel, a so-called double-beam system. These bars work on one or more sheets simultaneously, depending on the sheet format. Up to three different creasing, cutting or drawing tools can be mounted on each unit. The tools operate at a speed of max. 9.3 m/second.

The material transport is fully automated with a board handling system and uses an innovative conveyor belt for unloading and stacking the cut material. This eliminates the need for holding bars to hold the cut parts in place and minimises the effort required to remove the cut parts. The maximum stack height of 1.5 m allows long, uninterrupted production cycles. Machine operating time is very low, as manual intervention is limited to feeding the raw material pallet into the loading unit and then removing the processed sheet pallet from the unloading unit.

The loading unit can load the cutter with several sheets. Full utilisation of the working area means that even small sheet formats can be processed efficiently.

The combination of fully automatic material handling and high-performance digital cutting is the key to flexible production. During the loading process, a scanner records the job information via QR codes printed along with the sheet. This makes it possible to reliably recognise different orders within a stack and process them automatically.

With its investment in the complementary plotter technology, Panther Display is taking the path to even greater independence in sophisticated, individual display developments, thus additionally ensuring the adherence to deadlines expected by customers as well as delivery reliability.
