The German manufacturer of corrugated base paper and corrugated board formats Progroup has reached an important milestone at its new plant in Italy.

The company announced that test production has begun at the newly built corrugated board sheet plant in Cessalto near Venice. “The plant is no longer a construction site - the team has moved in and is producing under real conditions for the first time,” the company reported on its social media channels.
Progroup had announced the construction of the new plant in Cessalto in 2022 and laid the foundation stone last year. According to earlier company statements, the plant will be able to produce up to 200,000 tons per year of corrugated board formats. These are to be processed into packaging in the adjacent plant of the company and Progroup partner Ondulkart. The plan was to create 60 new jobs.
Progroup operates another corrugated board sheet plant in Drizzona, also in northern Italy. This has a capacity of around 95,000 tons per year and is adjacent to a plant belonging to packaging manufacturer Imbal Carton.
Progroup has grown in recent years. Last summer, the company opened a new corrugated board plant in Petersberg in Germany. Another one was built in Strykow in Poland and went into operation at the beginning of 2023. Both have a capacity of 200,000 tons per year of corrugated board formats. A renovation project was also planned in the area around the existing Douvrin plant in France.
