The Slc Cgil trade union confirmed that operations had resumed on 5 March. Production on the board machine will now be gradually ramped up, said the union spokeswoman responsible.

The Villa Santa Lucia plant had been at a standstill since July 2023. This was due to unresolved legal disputes in connection with the treatment of waste water and sludge generated during production. In January, RDM therefore initiated proceedings for the permanent closure of the plant, including the dismissal of 163 employees. The problems have now been partially resolved, with RDM announcing at the end of February that the process to close the plant and lay off the workforce will be discontinued.

Reno de Medici produces GD board and GD liner in Villa Santa Lucia on a machine with a capacity of 220,000 tonnes per year.
