The Dragon has landed at Realisaprint.com, a French online printer. It is the first installation in the world of the RICOH Pro Z75 B2 perfecting (auto-duplexing) sheetfed inkjet platform after the successful beta test at Heeter in America.

Founded in 2007, Realisaprint.com provides commercial printing services to more than 50,000 graphics arts professionals in France, Spain, and Italy. Operating exclusively online at Realisaprint.com, Realisaprint.es, and Realisaprint.it, the company has approximately 140 employees working at an 8,000 square metre production centre near Nice, and offers a huge range of products including brochures, flyers, signage, rigid panels, and Point of Purchase displays. It has enjoyed year on year annual growth of 25% in revenue.

The greatly anticipated Pro Z75 provides the advantages of a sheetfed platform with the low running costs and high productivity of inkjet. It delivers higher print quality, faster turnaround times and ease of use for fewer demands on staff. Every day, Realisaprint.com prints and dispatches up to 1,500 client orders across its many product lines. The new press will enable the operation to continue its entry into new sectors of the market such as commercial print, improve lead times, increase profit margins, and enhance its client services.

The latest addition joins a RICOH ProTM VC70000 high speed inkjet colour press and two RICOH ProTM C9200 sheetfed digital presses. The Pro Z75 will transform print production with its ability to:

  • Print at speeds of up to 4,500 sheets per hour (SPH) in straight printing or 2,250 SPH in duplex/perfecting printing.
  • Produce 1,200 dpi native resolution at all speeds with four colour (CMYK) pigment-based inks.
  • Ensure high quality results ready for immediate finishing with its proprietary drying system.
  • Expand substrate flexibility with the ability to handle uncoated, inkjet treated and offset coated media, up to 400gsm with a maximum sheet size of 585mm x 750mm.

Also important was the Pro Z75’s ability to connect to Realisaprint.com’s workflow automation tools, helping to optimise production efficiency. As a result, orders to the Realisaprint.com e-commerce store, data files are automatically routed to the relevant production device based on size, volumes, and preferred media.

Rafael Mari, Realisaprint.com’s Cofounder says: “We are delighted to continue our close collaboration with Ricoh. Throughout the decision making process we were fully supported by Ricoh and its experts in Europe, Japan and America. The new press will enable the operation to continue to open up new sectors of the market such as commercial print applications, and it will also help to maximise our production capacity.”

Sander Sondaal, Director, Commercial Print Sales, Ricoh Graphic Communications, comments: “Boston Consulting Group reported that the most innovative companies build resilience and advantage. Realisaprint.com’s is one of those operations. Its investment in the Pro Z75 is the latest step in its successful transition to a streamlined operating model. It will sit between the operation’s sheetfed toner and high speed inkjet technologies to help ensure the consistent, fast delivery of high quality applications. With the Pro Z75’s superior levels of print quality, efficiency, and automation Realisaprint.com can keep production costs as low as possible and improve profit margins. In turn, this will support an enhanced proposition for current and prospective clients with very attractive prices. We are delighted to be able to report this trailblazing order so soon after announcing the official launch and are preparing for further positive news before long.”
