Sappi Europe plans price increase for coated formats
News General news
Sappi Europe has announced a price increase of €50/t for its range of wood-free coated formats. The price increase is set to take effect on March 16, 2026.
In a statement, the company justified the move by citing a significant drop in prices in recent months, which it attributes to weak demand and intense competitive pressure. According to the paper manufacturer, sales prices are now at a level that no longer covers costs.
With this increase, Sappi aims to take a first step toward restoring a sustainable price level and ensuring the long-term economic viability of production. If the cost pressures persist, Sappi does not rule out further price adjustments, according to the statement.
Customers will be informed individually by the sales organization about the implementation.
