Suzano cuts pulp production in response to difficult market conditions

Brazilian pulp and paper manufacturer Suzano will cut its market pulp production in light of the current market conditions.

The company, a leading global producer of bleached short-fiber sulfate pulp, announced in early August that it would reduce production by approximately 3.5% of its nominal production capacity over the next twelve months. Suzano estimates its total market pulp capacity at 13.4 million tons per year.
The decision is based on the assessment that the company would not achieve adequate returns at full production volumes given the more difficult market environment, Suzano explained.
