Cellwood will supply Sun Paper with four Hot Dispersing Units  (Company news)

Cellwood Machinery was awarded a contract from Shandong Sun Paper - China for their new PM 36 and PM 37 project.

The contract includes four Krima Hot Dispersing units and are based on the success of Sun Papers PM 31 and PM 32 project.

Sun Paper was founded in 1980 and today is one of the largest paper manufacturers in China to be privately owned, with approx. 10,000 employees.

The delivery will take place during 2018.

Valmet to supply key technology for Sun Paper's new dissolving pulp mill in Laos  (Company news)

Valmet will deliver key technology for a new green field dissolving pulp mill to Sun Paper's new investment in Laos. The mill site, Muang Phin, is located in the southern province of Savanakhet. The target is to start pulp production during the 2nd quarter of 2018.

The order is included in Valmet's fourth quarter 2016 orders received. The value of the order is around EUR 20 million.

"This is our first international investment where we are expanding beyond China. Laos has shown to be a good location for this mill from where we will supply high profit dissolving to China. China is an important market for dissolving pulp and we expect to gain higher profits from dissolving pulp compared to kraft pulp in China," says Liu Yanbo, Mill Manager at Sun Paper.

"We are very pleased to start this dissolving pulp mill project together with Sun Paper. Valmet has long experience and a wide scope of technologies in supplying equipment and processes for the production of dissolving pulp for various end products. Together with our customer we will create a mill producing pure high-quality pulp," says Pasi Mäkelä, Vice President, Pulp Mill Sales at Valmet.

Valmet has strong market position and is systematically increasing its presence at the Asia Pacific region. All of Valmet's businesses are present in the area and in 2015 it represented about 13% of Valmet's net sales, excluding China that represented another 10 % of Valmet's net sales. Valmet has 10 service points in the area and is opening a new services center in Indonesia in 2017.

Technical details about the delivery
Valmet delivery to Sun Paper's new 250 kt/year dissolving pulp mill in Laos includes key technology for various process areas. Valmet's scope of supply includes batch cooking (photo) with engineering package, brown stock and bleaching presses for the fiber line, wood powder firing, belt dryer and lime kiln. Valmet also establishes site services for all goods delivered.

The batch cooking is an ideal fit for this kind of dissolving pulp production. In batch cooking the process can utilize raw materials with varying quality. The wood powder firing solution provides fuel for the lime kiln solution and reduces the need for fossil fuels. This wood power firing implementation is first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region.

Voith Breakthrough with the Successful Startup of Sun Paper's New Testliner Project  (Company news)

Sun Paper, one of the leading paper makers in China, recently successfully started up its new kraft liner paper machines with an annual capacity of 800,000 metric tons at its location in Zoucheng. The main paper machine, the right-hand machine PM 31 and the left-hand machine PM 32, are both provided by Voith. The PM 31 has successfully started up, marking a milestone in China’s papermaking sector, as it is the first time that two different packaging paper machines have ever been installed in a single workshop.

With support from Voith, the project will help Sun Paper achieve high production efficiency, significant cost savings and efficient fiber utilization during the manufacturing process.

With a production width of 6,660 mm and an operating speed of 1,200 m/min, the PM 31 produces testliner in the basis weight range of 110 to 250 g/m2. It adopts the cutting edge technology of the three layer MasterJet headbox, the Tandem NipcoFlex shoe press and the SpeedSizer as well as the hard nip calender. The installation of the PM 31 started in October 2015 and it became operational on July 10, 2016, an impressive achievement in the domestic papermaking industry.

With a relentless effort and close cooperation of the special taskforces from Voith and Sun Paper, the PM 31 achieved paper on reel earlier than Sun Paper had anticipated. In addition, it took only 12 hours from stock on wire to paper on reel. And it only took one day to produce saleable paper. Moreover, the PM 31 is running quite smoothly and stable after startup.

The left-hand machine PM 32 is expected to start up on August 8, 2016. The PM 32 adopts the advanced technology of “one headbox, two layers” with tandem NipcoFlex, surface sizing and hard nip calendar. It produces corrugating medium and testliner in the basis weight range of 90 to 140 g/m2.

With Fourdrinier (top layer) and DuoFormer D II (bottom layer), the PM 32 can guarantee product quality at a high operating speed. In addition, the PM 32 is the first paper machine to adopt the most advanced double layer headbox MasterJet Pro F/B2, which offers high efficiency, good formation, even basis weight, high paper strength and stable quality for production of top-quality kraft liner paper of low basis weight.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has successfully started up the second tissue machine with steel Yankee supplied to Shandong Sun Paper, China. After completing commissioning work in less than three weeks, full production operations began immediately and saleable tissue was produced continuously.

The PrimeLineTM W8 machine (PM28) at the Yanzhou mill, Shandong Province, has a design speed of 2,000 m/min and a width of 5.62 m. The Yankee, manufactured entirely of steel, has a diameter of 18 feet.

The turnkey supply included the complete stock preparation plant and the automation system as well as a re-evaporation heat recovery system that recycles energy – in the form of steam – to the production process. In combination with the steel Yankee, this enables very energy-efficient and safe production.

Following successful start-up of PM27 in July last year, Sun Paper is now operating two ANDRITZ tissue machines.

Der internationale Technologiekonzern ANDRITZ erhielt den Auftrag zur Lieferung eines kompletten Rejekt-Aufbereitungssystems für die Papiermaschinen PM31 und PM32 von Shandong Sun Paper Industry, China. Die Inbetriebnahme ist für das 2. Quartal 2016 geplant.

Der Lieferumfang umfasst Grob- und Feinzerkleinerungssysteme, einen Ballistik-Separator, Rejekt-Kompaktoren, Sandabscheider sowie Metallabscheider für Grob- und Feinteile (sowohl für Eisen- als auch Nichteisenmetalle). Das Rejekt-Aufbereitungssystem von ANDRITZ hat eine Gesamtkapazität von rund 200 Tonnen pro Tag. Die Rückstände aus beiden Faserlinien werden für die thermische Verwertung oder für eine weitere Reinigung und Rezyklierung aufbereitet, wobei wertvolle Komponenten wie Metalle abgetrennt werden.

Sun Paper hat Voith mit der Lieferung von drei Papiermaschinen zur Herstellung von Verpackungspapier und grafischem Papier beauftragt. Damit vertraut das chinesische Unternehmen auf die bewährten Komponenten und Module von Voith. Dieser Auftrag setzt die bereits in der Vergangenheit sehr erfolgreiche Partnerschaft zwischen Sun Paper und Voith fort.
Die zwei beauftragten mittelgroßen Maschinen für Verpackungspapiere mit einer Siebbreite von 7,3 m überzeugen mit hoher Effizienz und geringen Investitions- und Betriebskosten. Nach einigen Aufträgen für mittelgroße Maschinen in den letzten Monaten kann Voith nun einen weiteren Erfolg in diesem Segment verbuchen.

PMP Group to supply an Intelli-Jet V® hydraulic headbox to Sun Paper, China  (Company news)

In January 2014, PMP Group – a global provider of paper and tissue technology, signed a contract with Sun Paper, China, for the delivery of an Intelli-Jet V® hydraulic headbox. PMP’s unit will be delivered to the Yanzhou mill (Shandong Province) which is the largest single pulp and paper site in China. The main goal of the project is to change the existing production profile from 1-layer to 3-layer paper products.
Sun Paper company is more than 30 years old and over the past decade it has managed to create a brand characterized by high quality and modern technology. Currently their total production is reaching 4 million tons. The company’s annual turnover is estimated in the amount of 30 billion RMB, however, this number is set to be increased in the upcoming 5-10 years, to 100 billion RMB. Sun paper is known for having a significant position on the Chinese market as a paper supplier, nonetheless, the company has noticed a huge potential of premium tissue products and decided to expand its market potential.
PMP Group’s scope of delivery includes a 4 channel hydraulic headbox – (Intelli-Jet V®) of 3880 mm pondside, machine controls, assembly and start-up supervision. The unit will be installed on PM#16, which produces film base paper (140-250 gsm) and has an operating speed of 600 mpm. Hydraulic headbox will include consistency profiling system, which assures excellent basis weight control, resulting with uniform paper web structure and better CD basis weight profile. Start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2014.

One of the leading tissue producers in China, Wuhu Hengan Paper Co., Ltd, has chosen the Metso DNA automation system, the Metso IQ quality control system and non-radiation IQ Fiber Weight Measurement technology for new tissue lines at its greenfield tissue mill.

A total solution for wet end management

In a unique way, these analyzers combine all the relevant wet end variables as a total solution for wet end management. To meet the objectives set for quality, runnability and overall efficiency, it is vital to stabilize consistency, ash content, charge and chemistry at startups, during normal operation and after grade changes. It is best done by measuring, analyzing, controlling and managing the wet end as comprehensively as possible with cutting-edge analyzer technology.
“Today, more and more chemicals are used in the tissue production process. It is necessary to measure online the most suitable chemical environment for the process,” ZhongDe Ye points out. “The customer already has several Metso charge analyzers on another paper machine, so they know the analyzers’ real performance and how this benefits the process.”

Market-leading quality control solutions for board production, too
Additionally, Metso has received an order for Metso IQ quality control technology to be supplied to a coated board production line. The line will be rebuilt to produce high-quality folding boxboard.
Metso’s delivery will include a Metso IQ Scanner with MD and CD controls to provide fast, high-resolution sheet quality profiles from edge to edge. A Metso IQ Dilution Profiler (IQ Dilution Profiler), a profile control system for advanced positioning of the headbox valves, will also be supplied to achieve the best possible weight profiles.
“The customer has good experience with Metso QCS on their other machines. For example, they appreciate the stability of the intelligent Metso IQ scanner,” ZhongDe Ye adds.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Shandong Sun Paper, China, to supply two tissue machines with steel yankees to the Yanzhou mill, Shandong province, for the production of high quality facial and toilet paper. The first ANDRITZ machine is scheduled to start up in May 2014 and the second at the beginning of 2015. Shandong Sun Paper, a globally leading pulp and paper producer, is thus entering the tissue business.
The new tissue machines, both of the type PrimeLineTM W8, are designed for a speed of 2,000 m/min and for a paper width of 5.62 m. They will be equipped with a PrimeFlow 2-layer headbox including dilution control, a PrimeDry Steel Yankee with a diameter of 18 ft., and a PrimeDry ReEvaporation HeatRecovery system. The scope of supply also includes the complete stock preparation plant and the automation system with DCS (Distributed Control System) and QCS (Quality Control System).
According to Mr. Ying Guangdong, Vice President & Chief Engineer of Shandong Sun Paper, this investment is part of an expansion program to become one of the five largest tissue producers in China within the next ten years.

Paper mills compete on the Kemira sponsored Water Efficiency Award   (Company news)

The annual PPI Awards recognize the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. The awards provide an opportunity for pulp and papermakers worldwide to show off their strategic accomplishment as well as achievements in leadership, vision, and innovation on a global platform.

Metso to supply coated board line to International Paper & Sun Cartonboard in China  (Company news)

Metso will supply a coated board production line to International Paper & Sun Cartonboard Co., Ltd in China. The value of the order will not be disclosed. A typical value of this kind of a production line is EUR 90–120 million, depending on the scope of the delivery and the production output.
Metso’s delivery will include a complete coated board machine from headbox to winders, including stock preparation and approach flow systems, hoods with machine ventilation and coating color preparation systems. Additionally, the full-scope automation delivery will include process, machine and quality controls, web break monitoring and web inspection as well condition monitoring. The main part of the order is included in Paper and Fiber Technology’s third quarter 2011 orders received and the automation delivery in Energy and Environmental Technology’s third quarter 2011 orders received.

First ValZone metal belt calender for fine paper starts up at Sun Paper Group mill in China  (Company news)

A Metso-supplied ValZone metal belt calender was started up on the PM 23 fine paper machine of Yanzhou Huamao Paper Industry Co. Ltd., member of Sun Paper Group, in Yanzhou city, Shandong Province, China at the end of April. Earlier the line was operated with a soft calender. The Metso-supplied paper machine has a wire width of 7.85 m and a design speed of 1,600 m/min, and it produces approximately 350,000 tonnes of uncoated fine papers annually.
With the metal belt calender, the line is able to produce top quality printing paper grades with superior feel and visual appearance. The ValZone metal belt calender allows raw material optimization, for instance by allowing an increase in the filler content of the sheet. Also, as a result of increased bulk, the same printing qualities can be reached with a lower grammage.
The delivery is a repeat order of the ValZone technology as Sun Paper Group’s coated board line PM 22 also is equipped with metal belt calendering. The ValZone metal belt calender of PM 23 is the first installation for fine paper grades.
“This start-up is a milestone that brings the metal belt calendering technology into a whole new area of application. It is now for the first time used for printing papers and for the first time in a wide and fast paper machine thus demonstrating that the metal belt calendering technology has a lot of potential with regard to future development,” says Timo Valkama, Senior Paper Technology Manager, Metso’s Paper business line.
