Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG is acquiring significant portions of Manroland Sheetfed’s service and spare parts business. Under an agreement with Manroland’s parent company, Langley Holdings, Heidelberg is acquiring the global service and spare parts operations, the associated intellectual property rights, and approximately 35 sales and service subsidiaries with about 600 employees.

With this acquisition, Heidelberg aims to strengthen its position in the printing and packaging market and expand its business in services, spare parts, and consumables. According to a statement from Heidelberg, the more than 3,000 customers with installed Manroland Sheetfed presses will have access to Heidelberg’s global service and logistics network in the future. The existing local points of contact are to remain largely in place. In addition, Heidelberg is securing the rights to the Roland 900/Cartonmaster wide-format press and is exploring options for its future production and further development. The transaction is still subject to the usual regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.

Declining demand for printing presses weighed on Manroland’s business
According to Langley Holdings, the agreement is intended to ensure long-term support for the global installed base of Manroland sheetfed presses. Langley acquired the sheetfed offset division of the former Manroland Group out of bankruptcy in 2012. However, the company reports that business has been weighed down in recent years by declining demand for printing presses. Manroland Sheetfed had already initiated protective shield proceedings in March 2026. The company has been in open insolvency proceedings since June 1. Against this backdrop, the company sought a strategic solution for customers, employees, and the installed machine base.
