Like the other machines in the DocuCutter series, the DC-648 has been designed to allow one operator to perform multiple operations - cutting, creasing, perforating and slitting - in a single pass. Depending on the equipment, positive and negative creasing is now also possible in a single pass. There is also a choice of two creasing widths. Grammages of up to 400 g/m2 can be processed. With the aid of a new banner sheet feeder for all DocuCutter models, sheets up to 1,200 mm long can now also be processed on the DocuCutter.

The speed, durability and versatility of the multifinisher have been further improved. What sets the DC-648 apart in particular is its greater automation, ease of use and connectivity into the user's workflow. This results in even more intuitive operation and optimal connectivity due to the revision of the PC controller for future Industry 4.0 integration, the pre-installed template library, the FKS/Ultimate Impostrip software and the EFI Fiery DFE Connector. Thanks to these options, the workload is already significantly reduced at the prepress stage. The possible integration into existing MIS systems finally paves the way to Industry 4.0. The DocuCutter DC-648 can be optimally integrated into the customer's workflow, enabling data to be exchanged between the DocuCutter and the customer's working environment. Production data is recorded so that it can then be retrieved from the customer's MIS at any location. This makes it possible to track when which job was produced and by whom. In addition, the status of a job can be queried at any time.

In addition, the new and unique camera system is able to capture a print image at multiple points. Several print marks are captured on the sheet. This means that a possible print offset, a skewed position of the print image and also shrinkage of the print sheet can be detected and corrected immediately. Of course, a barcode can also be read so that a job change can be carried out automatically.

Many work steps and processes can thus once again be noticeably shortened or completely eliminated, as the DocuCutter DC-648 can work very independently without major manual intervention. Less waste, greater accuracy, significantly shorter makeready times and more efficient personnel planning are the many advantages of the new multifinisher.
