Not Everything That Looks Like Paper Belongs in the Waste Paper Bin
News News blog
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as the saying goes. Unfortunately, this is often the case with waste separation. Despite the best of intentions, garbage is often disposed of incorrectly out of ignorance.

Pizza boxes, frozen food packaging or sticky notes - they're all cardboard or paper, many people think. But even so, none of this should go into the blue waste paper can, because soiled cardboard packaging (pizza boxes), coated cardboard (frozen food packaging) or papers with adhesive (sticky notes) do not belong in the waste paper garbage can.
Coated papers also include, for example, cash register receipts, because some are still printed on thermal paper. This paper is coated with bisphenol A (BPA), which is harmful to health. Some retailers now do without thermal paper for cash register receipts. You can tell by the color: This is because the blue sales slips are made of climate-friendly paper, according to the company's own information, and can be disposed of in waste paper recycling bins. The FSC seal is also printed on some of them.
Coffee-to-go cups are coated on the inside and belong in the yellow bag.
Is all this still confusing? Then when disposing of them, it's best to make sure that the cardboard packaging and paper bags are marked with the Green Dot. Because then you can be sure that these paper products are actually allowed in the waste paper bin.
