Paper industry data 2022
News General news
The SPKF has handed over the collection of statistical data on the paper and board industry to the RP+K association (Recycling Papier + Karton).

We provide the paper industry figures and the RP+K association compiles the evaluation with further data. Supply problems, rising energy prices and inflationary tendencies characterised the economic environment. And yet the recovered paper figures remained relatively stable throughout the year.
The use of recovered paper increased minimally (+1.05%). Imports also increased (+6.53%), although not as strongly as in the previous year, which was affected by the pandemic. Exports declined relatively significantly (-14.34%). The very high usage rate (94.71%) and the collection rate (80.05%) are still pleasing. The total consumption of paper and cardboard in Switzerland continues to decline (-4.57%). To produce just under 1 million tonnes of paper, around the same number of tonnes of fibrous materials are required in Switzerland each year. 95% of this is obtained by recycling waste paper.
In the annual statistical report of Recycling Papier + Karton, the figures can be looked up and further conclusions can be drawn.
